Jeep Hurricane: The Total Performance Vehicle

 by: Terry Brown

The Jeep Hurricane made its way to the public’s knowledge through the 2005 North American International Auto Show. This vehicle is known to represent the continued success of valiant concept vehicles. This vehicle also reflects and demonstrates the Chrysler Group’s creative and mechanical expertise. It shows off and boasts a more powerful performance. It holds the HEMI® as its source of power. There are two 5.7 liter HEMI engines in this Jeep Hurricane. One is installed at its front end while the other is found at the back. Both of these provide 335 horsepower and some 370 pound feet of torque. Just multiply the numbers by two and you get the total figure.

Trevor Creed, senior vice president of Chrysler Group design, states, “Jeep Hurricane is simply the most maneuverable, most capable, and most powerful 4x4 ever built. It pays homage to the extreme enthusiasts’ Jeep vehicles in form and off road capability, but is a unique interpretation of Jeep design. Simply stated, it is the extreme example for the Jeep brand.”

Creed adds, “Out in the wilderness, changing direction in minimal space can mean the difference between an afternoon of adventure and a distress call back to the trailhead. The multi-mode four wheel steering system on Jeep Hurricane is designed to offer enthusiasts the next level of performance and unexpected maneuverability.”

The Jeep Hurricane is made from lightweight yet strong and durable material. It boasts of a functional appearance. This vehicle holds a minimalist approach to its design and style. To add up to its appearance, though, are the brand’s signature features that includes a seven-slot grilles, two seats, and no doors. The interior surrounds the occupants with an exposed carbon fiber and polished aluminum with Black Thunder and Tiluminum accents. The whole body is also made up of the structural carbon fiber material. The Jeep Hurricane’s suspension and powertrain are also mounted directly to the body. To connect the underside as well as function as a complete skid plate system, there is an aluminum spine that runs under this vehicle’s body. This vehicle comes with an estimated 3,850 pounds of weight. It measures some 108.1 inches of wheelbase, a width of 80.0 inches, and a height of 68.2 inches. It holds a five speed automatic transmission system, as well as wheels measuring 20 x 10 inches.

If you are the type for person looking for luxury and comfort, then the Jeep Hurricane is not the vehicle for you. It is a vehicle that is more inclined towards total off road functions and leans towards complete performance.
